Winter Chill 2022

Time to start thinking about dormancy breakers and getting ready for the season ahead.

When it comes to predicting full bloom dates and winter chill we are tracking along like an average year in the Perth Hills receiving 43 chill portions and Donnybrook receiving 39 chill portions. Bickley is well over the 70% of the average winter chill, Donnybrook should be there by next week.

While Manjimup, at 49 chill portions has just got to 70% this week, Pemberton at 40 chill portions and tracking along well below the 10th percentile and are going to need some more cold days and nights to get the 70% of the average.

End of season update

As we end the chill accumulation period our regions have finished off another low chill year. Manjimup at 67 chill portions, Pemberton 57, Donnybrook 53 and Bickley 59 winter chill portions as of 29th August 2022.
