APAL Future Orchards® - Harvest walk Series 2023 in Kirup WA a success!

In Kirup, WA, last Monday 6 February the harvest orchard walk looked at reviewing block performance against the targets set early in the season and thinking about what if anything we might change next season.

A standout was how Santa Rita Orchard’s team was making use of data in near real time to inform decisions.

AgFirst consultant Jonathan Brookes stressed the role of crop load in managing vigour: ‘crop is the only tool you get paid for, everything else you pay for.’

All participants enjoyed the afternoon, finishing off with a sundowner and a great opportunity to talk about the upcoming harvest season.

Thanks to Mark, Basil and Terry Martella for hosting, and to Front Line Advisor Susie Murphy White, APAL representatives Tom Frankcomb and Alison Barber, for facilitiating the event and special presenter Jonathan Brook from the AgFirst team who made his first visit to WA.
