2024 Perth Royal Show - Apple and Pears feature again!
A Pomewest Promotion, actively supporting WA apple and pear growers
During the Perth Royal Show from September 21 to 28, 2024, WA apples and pears, Sweeter Bananas, and WA Potatoes were successfully promoted at the Farm 2 Food Pavilion in the Centenary Pavilion. Again, this family-focused location proved to be an excellent platform for apple promotion. The distribution of items for the Yellow Brick Road (YBR) in the pavilion significantly increased foot traffic.
The show boasted strong attendance, with over 439,000 visitors, attributed to government support for free children's entry and half-price adult entry. The weather was clear and sunny for all days except Friday.
As part of the Yellow Brick Road, 12,000 Bravo apples were distributed. Additionally, a total of 4952 apples were sold as apple slinkies for $2 each, marking a 6% increase from 2023.
Bravo™, Pink Lady, and Granny Smith apples were presented and sold as apple slinkies, and Packham pears were sold in the same way, demonstrating the increasing popularity of pears. Many consumers are already familiar with Bravo™ and specifically requested it, demonstrating a widespread recognition of this apple variety. There is also a strong interest in trying pears. We intend to expand and measure the demand for pears in 2025.
