Horticulture Biosecurity Liaison Project

The Banana, Pome, Citrus and Stone Fruit APC Committees have collaborated together with supporting funding from DPIRD to engage Horticulture Liaison Officer/s for a project that will provide industry biosecurity representation, contact points, preparedness for biosecurity incidents, pest lists, guidelines and grower interaction and communication sessions and publications.

Information which has been gathered and is in process of being prepared for industry includes:

• Improve biosecurity preparedness and awareness for growers

• Gather biosecurity information from DPIRD, QWA and other sources:

• WA state border practices

• Current surveillance activities for regional priority pests

• Neglected orchards information

• Priority pest lists (exotic to WA but found in other States)

• Case studies on costs incurred for WA biosecurity incidents
