Easter Fun at the Donnybrook Apple Festival 2023

Thank you to the local growers who stopped by to say hello throughout the day
— Nardia Stacy Executive Manager Pomewest

The Pomewest team had great success at the Donnybrook Apple Festival last Saturday 8 April between 10.00am - 5.00 pm.

This year, the format changed to a one day street market style format which was a terrific way to bring the town community together.

The team - headed by Sam Licciardello, consisted of Susie and Evelyn Murphy White, Tilly Butler, Noelene Swain (Fresh Finesse) and Nardia Stacy.  We promoted nine different varieties of locally produced apples and pears for all the passers-by to sample and take home.

Special thanks for the generous fruit donations to Martella Family from Santa Rita, Carlo Patane, Mario Casotti and the Blue Moon Packing team, Will and Naomi Keusch, Licciardello Family from Orchard 1Sixty, Richard Licciardello from Karintha Orchards and Joe and Torre Licciardello from Licciardello and Sons.

The proceeds from fruit sales covered our sponsorship, and running expenses - which was the goal outcome.  With a little left over to put towards our next promotional event.

Pomewest actively promoted the new varieties with Modi and Pica Boo, along with the other firm favourites Pink Lady, Gala, Grannies, Nashi, Fuji, Packham, Josephine demonstrating that  there is 'an apple for everyone' and 'good things come in pears'.

We also promoted our WA bred apples from the Manjimup from the Australian apple breeding program and our work with the industry led apple quality testing project.

All in all, we all had heaps of fun and hope to be involved to support the festival again in 2024.
